The second stage of vaccination of the Russian military against coronavirus began at the Khmeimim airbase in Syria.

The second stage of voluntary vaccination against coronavirus began at the Russian Khmeimim airbase in Syria. Military personnel who have already been vaccinated earlier are being injected with the second component of the Sputnik V vaccine, Vladimir Litvinov, head of the medical detachment of the airbase, told reporters.

“Now the personnel of the group are being vaccinated with the second component of the vaccine. In the future, it is planned to vaccinate newly arriving people with the first and second components. It is planned that military personnel will receive both components of the vaccine on the territory of the Syrian Arab Republic,” said Vladimir Litvinov.

He explained that the vaccine is supplied to Khmeimim based on the number and duration of stay in Syria military personnel, so that everyone who wishes can take both stages of vaccination during a business trip. Vaccination at the air base started in mid-January, and, according to Vladimir  Litvinov, after the initial examination, doctors refused to vaccinate some military personnel due to colds. “Now they have all recovered, they are all right, they have also started vaccination,” he stressed.

According to the results of the first stage, there were no serious changes in the state of health of any of the servicemen.

“There were no serious post-vaccination complications. Today we are starting the second stage, after which we observe patients for three days and issue an appropriate certificate stating that a person has been vaccinated and can even communicate with patients, ”he explained.
