The Ministry of Health of the Russian Federation has registered a drug for coronavirus "Mir-19", developed by the Federal Medical and Biological Agency (FMBA) of Russia, the press service of the agency reported. Mir-19, developed on behalf of the head of the FMBA of Russia Veronika Skvortsova at the Federal State Budgetary Institution Institute of Immunology of the FMBA of Russia,” the report says.

Preclinical studies of the drug showed a 10-fold decrease in coronavirus load . It is alleged that in the course of clinical studies the safety and effectiveness of the drug was proven: it does not affect the human body, the target is the virus, in this regard, the development of adverse reactions in patients was not established.

The drug was also studied in in a hospital in the red zone in patients with moderate severity of COVID-19, where the effectiveness of the drug has been proven in comparison with standard therapy.

Mir-19 is intended for the prevention or treatment of coronavirus infection through inhalation or intranasal administration. The report notes that it stops the replication of the virus and prevents the most severe forms of the development of coronavirus infection, as well as pneumonitis and acute respiratory distress syndromes against its background.
