In Georgia, vaccination of people over 55 will be available from Monday

In Georgia, from April 5, people over 55 years of age will be vaccinated against coronavirus.

The Vaccination Council of the Ministry of Health of Georgia decided to start vaccinating people over 55 years of age against coronavirus from April 5. Ekaterina Tikaradze, Head of the Ministry of Health of the Republic, said this on Wednesday at a briefing after the meeting of the Council.

“The Council made an additional decision due to the fact that we will make vaccination available to our citizens over 55 years old ”, the minister said, adding that such a decision was made due to the fact that most of this category of citizens showed interest in vaccination and expressed a desire to get vaccinated as soon as possible.

In addition, the leadership of the Ministry of Health decided to start vaccination and those people who are undergoing dialysis therapy, as they are at risk, they can easily become infected with coronavirus and have a hard time enduring the disease. Such people will be vaccinated in those medical institutions where they are given dialysis. From April 5, vaccination will also be available for people who have had organ transplants.

Vaccination against coronavirus in Georgia has been carried out since March 15 with AstraZeneca (AstraZeneca) and Pfizer (Pfizer). At the moment, physicians and people over 65 are being vaccinated. According to the Ministry of Health, more than 6.7 thousand people have been vaccinated.
