A committee has been set up in the Celestial Empire to deal with the ethical evaluation of modern online games.

The agency intends to protect teenagers from negative influences and provide youth with entertainment products that are ethical in Chinese society.

The Committee, headquartered in Beijing, will pay particular attention to content that may cause social problems, incite racial and religious hatred. The supervisory body includes online content experts, researchers, sociologists, representatives of specialized media and government agencies.

In the near future, the committee will develop recommendations for online game providers. In addition, work will be done to ensure that the developers of such content assume social responsibility and comply with ethical standards.

Recently, there has been a sharp increase in the popularity of online games in China. In 2017, the turnover of this market exceeded $34 billion. A newly created committee conducted a random check of two dozen products. As a result of the test, the authors of 11 games were ordered to change or completely remove controversial content. Nine games were denied approval altogether.
