In 5-10 years Vladivostok may become a million-plus city

As the head of Primorye noted, this will be facilitated by the creation of the "Far Eastern Quarter" in the Nadezhdinsky district.
Vladivostok may become a million-plus city in 5-10 years, Governor of Primorye Oleg Kozhemyako said in an interview with TASS at the Eastern Economic Forum (EEF).
Former head of the Ministry of Regional Development Alexey Chekunkov< /b> stated that the department is considering the possibility of building a new satellite city of Vladivostok, when combined with Artyom and the regional capital, the population of the agglomeration could exceed 1 million people. Acting Governor of the Khabarovsk Territory Mikhail Degtyarev wrote in his telegram channel that Khabarovsk would become a millionaire before Vladivostok, and later at the WEF he told reporters that this would happen in 2034.
“There is such concept as the Vladivostok agglomeration. Vladivostok with Nakhodka, with the Nadezhdinsky district with construction prospects, this is already about 850 thousand inhabitants. Those decisions that were made and supported by the president on the construction of the Far Eastern Quarter in the Nadezhdinsky District will make it possible to commission several hundred thousand square meters of housing, respectively, several tens of thousands of residents will appear on this territory, and here is an agglomeration for you, here is the same million [inhabitants], which will be closed in a single economic space. This is not a quick issue, it will take from five to ten years for these steps,” said Oleg Kozhemyako.
He noted that the new microdistricts will be provided with all the necessary social infrastructure.
< br> The VI Eastern Economic Forum is being held in Vladivostok on September 2–4 in a hybrid format, the main theme of the business program is “New Opportunities for the Far East in a Changing World”.
