The President of Azerbaijan has arrived in Georgia for the first time in seven years.

Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev arrived in Tbilisi on a working visit on Monday. The Azerbaijani leader's meeting was broadcast live on the Georgian government's Facebook page (banned in Russia; owned by Meta Corporation, which is recognized as extremist in the Russian Federation).

"As you know, Georgia and Azerbaijan have a strategic partnership, good-neighborly relations. As part of a working visit with the Prime Minister of Georgia [Irakli Garibashvili] and Mr. President (Aliyev - approx. There will be an opportunity to consider all the important issues that we have in bilateral relations," Georgian Foreign Minister Ilya Darchiashvili, who met Ilham Aliyev at the Tbilisi International Airport, told reporters.

During the visit, Ilham Aliyev is scheduled to hold talks with the head of the Georgian government, after which the parties will make statements to the media.

The last time the President of Azerbaijan visited Georgia was in November 2015. Then the Prime Minister of Georgia was also Irakli Garibashvili.
