Georgia cancels the mask regime on the street from March 28

The wearing of masks will be mandatory only indoors and public transport, said on Tuesday the head of the operational headquarters of the interdepartmental coordinating council to combat coronavirus under the Prime MinisterGiorgiy Gibradze.

The first case of coronavirus infection in Georgia was recorded on February 26, 2020. The country has already gone through several waves of the pandemic. In December last year, the first cases of infection with the Omicron strain were detected in the republic. In February of this year, the Ministry of Health announced that the sixth wave of coronavirus has begun to decline.

During the pandemic in Georgia, whose population is more than 3.7 million people, 1,643,295 cases of infection were detected, 16,678 died from complications of the disease patients. Since March 15, 2021, Georgia has been vaccinating against coronavirus with drugs from Pfizer, Sinopharm and Sinovac Biotech. According to the Ministry of Health, 1,254,202 people have received both components of the vaccine since the beginning of the campaign, which is 43.6% of the adult population.
