Folklore of Yamal and Ugra will be collected by the Russian Geographical Society

The Russian Geographical Society will go on a multi-day expedition.

It starts tomorrow from Novy Urengoy. The participants intend to travel 4,000 kilometers across the Yamalo-Nenets and Khanty-Mansi Autonomous Okrugs.

It is planned to collect the folklore of the small peoples of the North for 50 days. 30 films about nature, settlements and people of the two regions will be shot. The expedition of the Russian Geographical Society will be headed by navigator, traveler and videographer Dmitry Zhdan. April 20 travelers should return to Novy Urengoy.

During the trip, they will, in particular, visit the cities of Nadym, Salekhard, Labytnangi, Shuryshkary, Berezovo, Nyagan, Khanty-Mansiysk, Nefteyugansk, Surgut, Kogalym and Muravlenko.

Russian Geographical Society has always paid great attention to the organization of expeditions. In particular, the Russian Geographical Society organizes and supports such projects as the Arctic Floating University, the Gogland Expeditions, Secrets of the Ancient Artists of Siberia, Saving Archeological Monuments at the Bottom of the Sayan Sea, and others.
