Five Russian schools to be built in Tajikistan

Russia has allocated $150 million for the construction of five schools in Tajikistan.

The Russian government has allocated about $150 million to build five Russian-medium schools in Tajikistan. This was announced on Tuesday by Deputy Prime Minister of the Russian Federation Alexey Overchuk, who is in Dushanbe on a working visit, reports corr. TASS.

“About $145-150 million has been allocated [by the government of the Russian Federation] for the construction and equipping of all five schools in Tajikistan,” saidOverchuk during his visit to the construction site of the future educational institution in Dushanbe. According to him, it is planned that Russian teachers will teach in the new schools, and the curriculum will be adapted specifically for Tajikistan. “But there will be local teachers, the main thing is that there will be quality education,” he said.

In April 2019, an agreement was signed between the governments of Tajikistan and Russia on the construction and material and technical equipment of educational institutions in 5 cities of the republic - Dushanbe, Khujand, Bokhtar, Kulyab and Tursunzade - with instruction in Russian. Each school is designed to teach 1,200 children.
