The first batch of vaccine in the amount of 739 thousand doses was delivered to the republic in accordance with a tripartite agreement between the Russian Direct Investment Fund (RDIF) and two Vietnamese companies - the diversified holding SOVICO Group and the pharmaceutical company Vabiotech, Vice President of SOVICO Group Dinh Viet Phuong told TASS. Under this contract, Vietnam will receive 40 million doses of Sputnik V until June 2022. At the same time, the parties plan to continue increasing capacities for the production of the Russian vaccine in Vietnam.

In his speech, the Russian Ambassador to Vietnam called the fight against the new coronavirus infection one of the priority areas of cooperation between Moscow and Hanoi for the foreseeable future. “I hope that cooperation in this area will serve as a guarantee of further promotion of interaction between our countries in the field of healthcare,” said Gennady Bezdetko.

He drew attention to the fact that Vietnam became the first country in the South -East Asia, which has established the production of the Russian vaccine. “A bottling line for Sputnik V was launched at the plant of the Vietnamese pharmaceutical company Vabiotech. We are ready to deepen cooperation in this area in the interests of the peoples of our states, in the spirit of a comprehensive strategic partnership between our countries,” the ambassador emphasized.

Production of Sputnik V in Vietnam

In July, Vabiotech released a trial batch of Sputnik V, which received a positive conclusion for compliance with quality standards based on the results of testing at the National Research Center for Epidemiology and Microbiology named after N. F. Gamaleya. On September 24, the company announced the successful production of the first regular batch of the vaccine, which was also analyzed and positively evaluated by the Russian side.
