On the day of the 80th anniversary of the victory in the Battle of Stalingrad in Naryan-Mar, the premiere of the documentary "56 Fiery Days", released by the Rosgvardiya film studio, took place.

More than a hundred residents of the Nenets Autonomous Okrug watched a tape about the exploits of the fighters of the 10th Infantry Division of the internal troops of the NKVD of the USSR, who were the first to repulse superior enemy forces. More than seven thousand Chekist soldiers sacrificed themselves to protect civilians, to hold the besieged city until the approach of the main group of the Red Army and not to let the fascists to the Volga.

The little-known pages of the history of the Great Patriotic War of 1941-1945 and the fate of the brave soldiers of law and order aroused the genuine interest of the audience. So, almost six months before the feat of Alexander Matrosov, the submachine gunner of the 272nd regiment of the 10th SD of the NKVD troops of the USSR, Alexey Vashchenko, silenced the enemy machine gun at the cost of his life, which prevented the advance of the defenders of Stalingrad. After an unsuccessful attempt to get the fascists who had taken refuge in the bunker with a grenade, the seriously wounded hero, overcoming the pain, rushed to the fortification and closed the embrasure with his body. By a brave act, the chekist gave the necessary time and inspired his comrades to a successful counterattack. The faltering enemy was knocked out of the trenches.
