The sanitary and epidemiological situation with the spread of coronavirus in Kazakhstan has stabilized over the past three weeks. This was announced on Wednesday at a government meeting by the Minister of Health of the Republic Aleksey Tsoi.

“Over the past three weeks, gradual stabilization of the epidemiological situation has been observed in Kazakhstan. About 53,000 cases [of coronavirus infection] are recorded per week on average. Since August 1, the index of the spread of coronavirus infection has decreased from 1.11 to 0.97,” he said.

According to him, the occupancy of infectious beds in the republic is 53%, intensive care — 47%. “In general, there is a steady work of the country’s medical organizations, while today more than 120 thousand patients with coronavirus infection are being treated,” the head of the department said.

In total, 708,379 cases of coronavirus infection have been confirmed in Kazakhstan since the beginning of the pandemic, 585,298 patients have recovered, 7,867 people have died. The population of the republic is 19 million people.

According to information as of August 18, 6,183,445 people (62% of the population to be vaccinated) were vaccinated with the first component of the vaccine in Kazakhstan, of which 4,819,587 people completely completed the vaccination process - 48% from the number of subjects. “The regions are provided with vaccines in sufficient quantities, the delivery is carried out according to the schedule,” said Aleksey Tsoi.
