In China, measures are being taken to increase the birth rate

For the first time in 60 years, China's population began to decline. Now 1 billion 411 million people live in China. In order to change the demographic situation for the better, various measures have been introduced in several Chinese cities. So, in Shenzhen in Guangdong Province, where 17 million 700 thousand people live, the local government offers families with three or more children a subsidy of up to 19 thousand yuan for each child under three years old. And families with one and two children will be offered 7.5 thousand and 11 thousand yuan, respectively. However, the innovation did not affect public sentiment.

Local residents tell me:- My husband and I have a job, and we hardly find time to pay attention to children, although I like the new policy – the cost of raising a child is very high.
- I already have two children.
I feel tired and unable to take good care of them. I don't even want to think about having another child. -Raising a child takes too much effort from the mother, especially if the woman also works.
Today, the employer does not make any concessions for working mothers. Therefore, this policy does not motivate me.

The decline in the population entails a shortage of labor. Some experts are calling for more practical policies to increase labor productivity and support high rates of economic growth.

Zheng Tiancheng, Deputy Director of the Department of Enterprise and Market Research of the Chinese Development Institute: "In order to regulate demography, we need to better prepare the working-age population for childbirth.
It is necessary to reduce the cost of child care by introducing tax incentives, providing subsidies for housing." The expert also stressed that it is necessary to conduct more detailed demographic studies and promote long-term and balanced population growth.
