Cultural centers to be opened for Georgian diasporas

To implement this project, a new structure will appear in the Ministry of Education of the Republic.


According to the head of the department, Mikhail Batiashvili, the Diaspora Department will be in constant contact with compatriots who have settled abroad. The minister noted that "Georgians living abroad are the biggest fans of their homeland, and it is for them that the new department will work," reports Sputnik -Georgia. Textbooks will be published and distributed for diasporas, cultural centers will open.

The distance learning program will also continue. It is currently operating in Europe. This is a pilot project that operates in test mode. Based on its results, a decision will be made to expand the initiative. 

At present, the department for relations with the Diaspora operates in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the republic. As Georgian President Salome Zurabishvili recently stated, a summer camp for young people living abroad will soon be organized in Georgia. In addition, it is planned to open an information center for serving members of diasporas in Tbilisi.
