COVID-19 vaccination to start on February 26 in Malaysia

"The program starts on February 26, I will be the first to be vaccinated," the head of government said on Tuesday, presenting the vaccination program live.

In addition, according to the head of the Cabinet, "medical workers, law enforcement officers and a number of other categories will be among the first to receive the vaccine." Approximately 80% of Malaysians, including foreigners, are expected to receive the drug by the first quarter of next year.

The head of government also specified that “the first batch of Pfizer-BioNTech (Pfizer-Biontek) will arrive in country on February 21.”

At the end of January, the Russian Direct Investment Fund (RDIF) and the Malaysian company Duopharma Sdn Bhd signed an agreement on the terms of delivery of the Sputnik V coronavirus vaccine. In addition, Malaysia purchased a batch of vaccines from the Chinese manufacturer Sinovac Biotech (Sinovac Biotech).
