COVAX delivers 2 million doses of COVID-19 vaccine to Vietnam

Vietnam received 2 million doses of coronavirus vaccine under the international COVAX program.


Vietnam received 2.04 million doses of the coronavirus vaccine from the American company Moderna as part of the international COVAX program, designed to help countries around the world have equal access to safe and effective vaccines. A batch of vaccine provided to Vietnam as aid from the US government was delivered on Saturday to Noi Bai International Airport in the Vietnamese capital.

According to the Ministry of Health of the Republic, about 5 million doses of vaccines from various foreign manufacturers have already been delivered to Vietnam . Of these, the republic also received 2.5 million doses under the COVAX mechanism.

This year, Vietnam intends to receive a total of 105 million doses of vaccine from abroad, of which about 39 million doses will be provided to it under the program COVAX. In addition, agreements on their commercial deliveries to Vietnam have been reached with the British-Swedish company AstraZeneca, the manufacturer of the Russian Sputnik V, as well as with the American companies Pfizer and Moderna.

The vaccination campaign against COVID-19 has continued in the country since March and has already covered about 4 million people of Vietnam's 96 million population, while only slightly more than 240 thousand people received two vaccinations.

According to the National Coordinating Committee for the Prevention and Control of the Spread of COVID-19, since the beginning of the pandemic in Vietnam since January 2020, 27,400 infected have been identified. Due to complications caused by coronavirus infection, 110 people died. 18,306 patients are now under medical supervision in medical institutions.
