Sergey Lavrov, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Russia:

“There is a law, but in connection with Article 69 of the Constitution, of course, it needs to be reviewed. I head the Government Commission for Compatriots Abroad, so we already have an agreement that we are starting to look at what clarifications can be made to this law. I absolutely agree that it is necessary to spell out in sufficient detail the things that directly affect the rights of our compatriots, including their rights under the laws of the countries where they live. This is a serious thing.”

Sergey Lavrov also supported the proposal to add a new holiday to the Russian calendar of significant dates - Compatriot Day, noting that this is a good idea.
