Chinese Ambassador to Russia Li Hui and President of Tatarstan Rustam Minnikhanov took part in the solemn ceremony.

“In 2015, the heads of state of China and Russia reached a consensus on increasing the number of consular offices. The Consulate General of China in Kazan is the sixth one established by China in Russia,” the Chinese Ambassador revealed the details of the preparation.

Previously, the diplomatic mission of the People's Republic of China was located in one of the city's office buildings. The permanent place of the mission will be a mansion on the Kazanka River. Its consular district includes all 14 regions of the Volga Federal District (VFD).

President of the Republic Rustam Minnikhanov during his speech noted that the geographical location of the Volga Federal District contributes to closer regional ties between the Volga region and China. “Today there is a very active work between our countries, and Tatarstan also occupies not the last position here,” the head of Tatarstan said. He backed up his words with numbers. Thus, in 2017, the turnover between China and Tatarstan amounted to $565.6 million, an increase of one and a half times compared to the previous year.
