Bangladesh in dire need of medical staff

Due to the COVID-19 epidemic, there is an acute shortage of personnel in the country's hospitals.

The Prime Minister of Bangladesh, Sheikh Hasina, has ordered additional medical staff to be urgently recruited due to an acute shortage of personnel that arose when citizens were infected with the coronavirus.

"The situation in the country is difficult, so the Ministry of Health ordered 2,000 additional doctors to fight the infection and 5,000 nurses. So we have an addition: 312 new paramedics," said Dr. Mamun Khan, assistant director of the Sheikh Hasina National Institute of Plastic Surgery.

Bangladesh is in self-isolation, which is officially announced until May 16th. The total number of cases on the tenth of May is relatively low - about 11 thousand infected in a population of 160 million people.

However, the work of the export-oriented industry, as well as pharmaceutical and clothing enterprises, has resumed. Transportation of medical goods and agricultural products is also allowed. Travel from city to city remains prohibited for individuals.
