The Ministry of Health of Azerbaijan has approved the use of the Russian coronavirus drug Sputnik V for the vaccination of the population. This was announced on Friday by the press service of the ministry, adding that negotiations are underway to import the vaccine into the country. message.

It is noted that Sputnik V has been registered in several dozen states and is successfully used for vaccination against coronavirus, showing high efficiency. “Negotiations are underway to import this vaccine into the country in the near future,” the Ministry of Health added.

On Thursday, Azerbaijani Prime MinisterAli Asadov signed an order to purchase a batch of Sputnik V. The document indicated that the republic would import this drug within 180 days.

Vaccination of the population against coronavirus began in Azerbaijan on January 18. Currently, the drug CoronaVac (Koronavak) of the Chinese company Sinovac Biotech (Sinovac Biotech) is used for this. A contract was signed with it for the supply of 4 million doses. According to the Ministry of Health, about 444,000 people have already been vaccinated in the country.
