Another holiday appeared in the Republic of Uzbekistan

The President of Uzbekistan signed a law on the establishment of the Peoples' Friendship Day in the republic.

President Shavkat Mirziyoyev signed a law adopted by the Legislative Chamber and approved by the Senate (upper house) of the Parliament of Uzbekistan on the establishment of the Day of Friendship of Peoples in the republic. The corresponding document was published on Thursday in the newspaper Narodnoye Slovo, which is the print media of the republic's parliament and government.

"Set July 30 as the Day of Peoples' Friendship," the law says. It is noted that in accordance with the legislation of the republic, this law comes into force from the moment of publication.

The new holiday was established on the initiative of the head of Uzbekistan. “You all know that in accordance with the resolution of the General Assembly of the United Nations, July 30 is widely celebrated annually as the International Day of Friendship. I propose to mark this date in Uzbekistan as the Day of Friendship of Peoples,” said   Shavkat Mirziyoyev on December 29 last year in his message to the parliamentarians of the republic.

According to Goskomstan, representatives of more than 130 nations and nationalities live in Uzbekistan with a population of 34.5 million people. Education in state educational institutions of the republic is conducted in Uzbek, Russian, Karakalpak, Kazakh, Kyrgyz, Tajik and Turkmen languages. The National Television and Radio Company of Uzbekistan broadcasts in more than ten languages, local print media are published in 14 languages. There are 138 national cultural centers and 34 friendship societies in the republic.
