Abkhazia considers only Russian-made vaccines

Abkhazia has submitted an application for the supply of another batch of Russian vaccine against coronavirus.

Abkhazia is not considering the issue of supplying other coronavirus vaccines to the republic, except for Russian ones. This was stated by the Prime Minister of Abkhazia Alexander Ankvab at a meeting of the coordinating headquarters on Thursday.

“We are not considering the supply of vaccines other than Russian ones. I am a supporter of vaccinating in Abkhazia with any of the Russian drugs, they are all effective,” said the head of government.Alexander Ankvab noted that he himself was vaccinated with Sputnik V and underwent the vaccination without any side effects .

The prime minister said that an application had been submitted to the Russian government for the supply of another batch of vaccine against coronavirus to the republic. “The vaccine will arrive in Abkhazia, but I cannot give an exact date. This issue is constantly dealt with by the president, I deal with it, the Ministry of Health deals with it. Not everything is so simple, there are many countries in the world that want to receive the Russian vaccine, the demand for it is very high,” the prime minister noted.

Earlier, the republic received the first batch of 6.5 thousand Sputnik V vaccine doses, it was used up by the beginning of July. On August 10, vaccination with Sputnik Light began. A batch of this vaccine in the amount of 5 thousand doses was purchased for the republic by the head of the Moscow Abkhaz Diaspora Beslan Agrba.
