Abkhazia awaits delivery of Russian Sputnik V vaccine

The first 6,500 doses of the Russian Sputnik V coronavirus vaccine are expected in Abkhazia this week. This was reported to TASS on Tuesday at the Ministry of Health of the Republic.

“This week, the first batch of the Russian Sputnik V vaccine in the amount of 6.5 thousand doses will arrive in Abkhazia,” said Minister of Health Tamaz Tsakhnakia.

Earlier, the President of Abkhazia Aslan Bzhaniya stated that medical workers would be the first to be vaccinated, and then vaccination would take place in accordance with the recommendations of the coordinating headquarters for protecting the population from coronavirus.

Since the beginning of the pandemic, 14,321 people have been diagnosed with coronavirus in the republic, 222 people have died. 13,479 people have recovered.
