400,000 doses of the Russian Sputnik V vaccine have been delivered to Tehran.


batch of 400,000 doses of the Russian Sputnik V coronavirus vaccine arrived on Thursday from Moscow to the Iranian capital. The Club of Young Journalists agency reported this with reference to a customs representative at the Imam Khomeini International Airport.

Thus, the agency writes, the total number of doses of this Russian coronavirus vaccine delivered to Iran has reached 1.770 million.

On October 6, Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov at a press conference following talks with Iranian Foreign Minister Hossein Amir Abdollahian announced that Moscow and Tehran had agreed to speed up delivery of Sputnik V and considered the possibility of organizing the production of this vaccine in the Islamic Republic as soon as possible.

In Iran, free voluntary vaccination of the population against coronavirus using the Russian drug Sputnik V began on February 9. The vaccine was approved in the republic in January 2021.
