90% of adults in Vietnam receive first dose of COVID-19 vaccine

Vietnam is one of the top three countries in the world with the highest rates of immunization.

More than 90% of the adult population has been vaccinated against COVID-19 in Viet Nam. This was reported on Monday by the Tin Tyk newspaper, citing data from the Ministry of Health of the Republic.

As noted by the Ministry of Health, the pace of vaccination against coronavirus in the country has continued to noticeably accelerate recently. As of November 14, medical workers across the country have made 100 million vaccinations against covid. More than 90% of citizens aged 18 and over have received at least one injection, and about 45% have already been fully vaccinated with two doses of the vaccine. In addition, 1.2 million children and adolescents aged 12 to 17 received their first coronavirus vaccine.

Vietnam is one of the top three countries in the world with the highest immunization rates and one of the top 20 countries with the highest vaccination coverage. , ranking 2nd in Southeast Asia and 7th in Asia as a whole.

Nine COVID-19 vaccines have been officially registered and approved for use in the country. Among them are the Russian vaccine Sputnik V, American Pfizer, Moderna, Johnson & Johnson, as well as the British-Swedish AstraZeneca, the Chinese Vero Cell, the Hayat-Vax vaccine produced in the United Arab Emirates, the Cuban Abdala and the Indian Covaxin. Of these, 23,082 people died due to complications caused by coronavirus infection.

Most of the infected were detected during the fourth wave of the pandemic, which began here at the end of April this year. So far, the epidemic situation in the country is basically under control, and Vietnam, in accordance with the strategy approved by the government, is entering the stage of safe, flexible adaptation and effective containment of COVID-19.
