Japanese researchers have developed a new technology that allows users to share their feeling of touching with their hand. According to them, this is the first system of its kind in the world.

A group of researchers from the telecommunications giant NTT Docomo, Keio University and the Nagoya Institute of Technology worked together on this project.

The developed system uses sensors to measure the frequency of a barely noticeable vibration that a person feels when touching an object with his hand. The data obtained can then be used to reproduce this vibration in a device that is in the hands of another person.

The researchers claim it can help in learning and maintaining skills based on what development is based on touching with the hand, for example, traditional crafts.

According to them, this technology can also find application in online retail, enabling users who buy clothes to "feel the material" before buying.
