In Japan, a cleaning robot has been created that can move between floors by elevator.

Field tests of a new cleaning robot capable of independently moving between floors of a building by elevator have begun in Japan. This was reported on Wednesday by the NBC television channel.

The robot developed by Cyberdyne together with the railway operator JR West, the TV channel notes, looks and functionally resembles the already familiar vacuum cleaner robots, but has one distinctive ability - a deeper programming system for its movement. After reading a predefined QR code, the robot is able to independently call an elevator through a Wi-Fi connection, get into it and move to another floor to continue cleaning.

"Sooner or later there will come a time when we will no longer be able to fully meet the need for labor due to the continuing decline in the birth rate. Of course, a significant part of the cleaning can only be done by hand, but we will continue to try to mechanize what is possible," the TV channel quotes the words of a representative of JR West.

At the moment, it is not reported when it is planned to launch mass production and sale of such robots.
