Traces of an ancient shipwreck discovered in Cyprus

Divers found a huge amount of pottery in the Bay of Dreamers in Limassol.
In ancient times, a shipwreck occurred in this area, experts believe. According to rough estimates, the find dates back to the 6th-7th centuries BC.
The discovery was made by the staff of the Center for Underwater Archeology at the University of Southampton. They have been conducting research in the Bay Area for the past four years. Experts are interested in ancient artifacts left by the former inhabitants of the region.
Experts note that the pier itself is an artificial structure to protect ships from sea waves. This indicates that people have been living in this area for a long time.
Last year, it was decided to explore the bottom of the bay. Then the archaeologists found the sunken breakwater. There was no doubt that there was an ancient port in this area.
This year, the research continued. As a result, the remains of utensils were found - presumably it was from a sunken ship. We are talking about porcelain amphorae. In addition, they found part of a granite column, which scientists believe was also transported by ship. The divers intend to continue their search.
