The launch vehicle with 38 spacecraft was taken to the launch pad

A rocket for launching 38 satellites from 18 countries was installed on the launch pad of Baikonur.


The Soyuz-2.1a carrier rocket, which, with the Fregat upper stage, will put 38 satellites from 18 countries into orbit, is installed on the launch pad of the Baikonur cosmodrome. This is stated in the message of Roscosmos, distributed on Wednesday.


“In  in accordance with the decision of the State Commission, the Soyuz-2.1a launch vehicle with Fregat upper stage and 38 spacecraft on the morning of 17  March 2021 was taken to & nbsp; the launch complex of pad No. 31 of the Baikonur Cosmodrome, - the state corporation reported.


Roskosmos clarified that the specialists have started work according to the schedule of the first launch day.


The launch of the Soyuz-2.1a launch vehicle from Baikonur is scheduled for 09:07 Moscow time on March 20. It will launch the CAS500-1 Earth remote sensing spacecraft (Republic of Korea), the Japanese ELSA-d space debris removal vehicle, the Japanese GRUS Earth remote sensing satellites, and the Saudi Arabian small Earth imaging and communications satellite NAJM-1 , communication satellites of the Technical University of Berlin. Also, the first satellite of the Higher School of Economics (NRU HSE) remote sensing, the cubesat of the Sirius center and the NRU HSE, as well as the Orbikraft-Zorkiy satellite of the Sputniks company, will also go into orbit from the Baikonur Cosmodrome. This will be the first commercial launch of Glavkosmos Launch Services (part of Roscosmos).


Earlier, a source in the rocket and space industry told TASS, that the rocket to launch 38 spacecraft will be in  white and blue instead of the standard gray-orange color combination. Later, Roskosmos confirmed this information.
