Russian schoolchildren win five medals at the Olympiad in Thailand

At the 11th International Olympiad in Phuket in astronomy and astrophysics, Russian schoolchildren won five medals: gold, two silver and two bronze.


The  Ministry of Education and Science said that Daniil Dolgov from  school number 1 of the city of Zhukovsky, Moscow Region, received the "gold". Silver medals were awarded to Stanislav Tsapaev from Moscow and Pavel Arkhipov from St. Petersburg. Bronze medals were won by Ivan Starostin from Moscow and Viktor Zozulya from St. Petersburg.


In addition, Daniil Dolgov took third place in the individual competition. This is the best result in the entire history of participation of the Russian team in this Olympiad. In the unofficial medal standings, the Russian team took fifth place after Thailand, the USA (two gold each), Iran and India (one each).


In total, students from 45 countries took part in the Olympiad.
