Digital interaction of Central Asian universities to be discussed in Altai

From September 15 to 17, Altai State University will host the V International Educational Forum "Altai – Asia 2022: Eurasian Educational Space – New challenges and best practices". 

The forum is organized by AltSU in partnership with the Peoples' Friendship University of Russia, the Association of Asian Universities and the University of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization.

"Altai – Asia 2022" is held within the framework of the strategic academic leadership program "Priority 2030" and with the support of the Ministry of Science and Higher Education of the Russian Federation.

The Forum is aimed at creating platforms for a constructive dialogue between universities, business industries and authorities, studying best practices and jointly finding solutions to pressing problems. The Forum will be attended by representatives of the Ministries of Education and Science, rectors and representatives of more than 200 universities and business industries from 15 countries (Russia, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Uzbekistan, Tajikistan, Armenia, Azerbaijan, Belarus, China, Sri Lanka and other Central Asian countries). 

According to the Rector of AltSU Sergey Bocharov, in the context of the Russia–Asia dialogue, taking into account the current geopolitical trends in the development of higher education, the Altai–Asia – 2022 forum will focus on the formation of new aspects of the international academic space, the development of joint educational programs as a factor in increasing the competitiveness of partner universities. This year the forum program includes four expert sessions:

– internationalization of higher education in a changing international context: transformation of strategic approaches in the international activities of universities and the search for anti-crisis solutions;
– the main trends in the network interaction of universities in the Russian-Asian scientific and educational space: strategic priorities, forms of partnerships. Current status and prospects;
– digital transformation and scenarios for the development of higher education in an international context;
– "internal" internationalization: the importance of international cooperation at the local level.

The forum will be attended by RUDN President Vladimir Filippov, SCO Secretary General Zhang Ming, Advisor to the Minister of Science and Higher Education of the Russian Federation Elena Tumakova, Head of the Evaluation and Methodology Department of the ANO "Russia is a Land of Opportunities" Dmitry Guzhelya, Rector of the Kyrgyz National University named after J. Balasagyn, President of the Association of Asian Universities Kanat Sadykov, Rector of the EasternMukhtar Tolegen, President of Altai State University Sergey Zemlyukov, Acting Rector of the Pushkin State Institute of the Russian Language Natalia Trukhanovskaya, Rector of Togliatti State University Mikhail Krishtal, Executive Director of the Association "Global Universities", Senior Director for Strategic Development of the Higher School of Economics Irina Karelina, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary The Democratic Socialist Republic of Sri Lanka in the Russian Federation, as well as the Republic of Armenia, the Republic of Belarus, the Republic of Moldova, the Republic of Kazakhstan and the Republic of Uzbekistan Janita Liyanage, Rector of Altai State University Sergey Bocharov, representatives of Rossotrudnichestvo and other speakers and experts.

According to the rector of the RUDN Oleg Yastrebov, with the changing landscape of the world system of science and education, Russian universities are transforming their strategic approaches in working with foreign partners, raising as a priority the development of new international digital services embedded, among other things, in continuous professional development, interaction with foreign students in mastering new roles and methods of multilateral digital cooperation, as well as effective mechanisms for internationalization and export of education. "I am deeply convinced that the discussions that will take place within the framework of the Forum will allow us to develop a unified consolidated approach to work in the scientific and educational space of Eurasia in the context of global changes, as well as to identify new vectors for strengthening cooperation within the framework of existing partnerships," said the Rector of RUDN. 

Over the five years of its existence, the Altai –Asia Forum has established itself as a discussion platform for discussing topical issues of education development and mutual translation of the best experience in the Eurasian educational space.

Within the framework of the Forum, a collection of the best international educational practices and projects provided by the winning universities of the Priority 2030 program, as well as leading foreign universities, will be announced. This collection includes both general models of joint educational programs of Russian and foreign universities, as well as effective forms and tools for managing them. The materials are recommended by the Ministry of Education and Science of Russia as a practical guide in the work of managers, coordinators and project teams of developers of promising international joint programs.

Within the framework of the forum, two more significant events for universities in Russia and abroad will take place: the V Congress of the Association of Asian Universities and the USOS National Rectorate, as well as practical program events with the participation of well-known and authoritative speakers.

Currently, more than 350 participants from 10 countries, 50 subjects of the Russian Federation, 60 Russian cities and 21 foreign cities have registered at the Forum.
