Researchers from China and the UK have recently discovered new details of the historical production methods used by ancient sculptors to create the mysterious Terracotta Army in the city of Xi'an in China's northeast Shaanxi province.

group of specialists from the Qinshihuang Mausoleum Museum and University College London (UCL) have published an article that sheds light on the creation of the Terracotta Army. Based on the analysis of the samples taken, scientists have concluded that all the clay and other raw materials used to create the statues may have been taken from one supply center.

Then the raw materials for manufacturing were probably distributed to individual workshops, each of which had its own secrets in China production. The highly organized system of labor and logistics of the pre-imperial era is considered unprecedented in the PRC. The Terracotta Army appeared in the Celestial Empire in a special historical period. The sculptures were created during the Qin Dynasty (221-206 BC), which at the end of the 3rd century BC, long before the founding of the Roman Empire, created a united China from many warring kingdoms.

To fully appreciate the unique spectacle, a museum complex was built for visitors. In 1978, it was inscribed on the UN World Heritage List as part of the Qinshihuang Mausoleum.
