The Chinese authorities are inviting astronauts from other countries to join projects at the Chinese orbital station, which will start operating normally by the end of 2022. Wang Wenbin, official representative of the Chinese Foreign Ministry, announced this on Monday.

“We are ready to cooperate with all countries. <...> The Chinese Orbital Station invites foreign cosmonauts to engage in space exploration together with Chinese taikonauts,” he said at a briefing, answering a journalist’s question about the prospects for international cooperation.

As clarified by Wang Wenbin , at the current stage, Beijing is discussing this issue with the UN. “We plan to start joint research projects soon, at the earliest at the end of this year,” he added.

The representative of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs stressed that space exploration should be carried out jointly, through the combined efforts of the entire world community.
< br> The Chinese station is located at an altitude of about 400 km and should last more than ten years. It is designed for three people (up to six for a short time when changing crew). The mass of the T-shaped complex, which has three docking nodes and a gateway for access to space, is 66 tons.
