She spoke at the spring session of the governing bodies of the International Monetary Fund and the World Bank at seminar, which discussed the prospects for further development of the world economy. The host of the event asked if Putin would attend the meeting of the G20 leaders, which will be held in the autumn on the island of Bali. “We invited,” the minister said in response, emphasizing that invitations are sent in advance. “Already all the countries in the G20 have received their invitations,” said the head of the Ministry of Finance.
“As for the organization of the meeting itself, it similar to what we saw yesterday: it was not easy, but in in the end everyone one room, but if you don't agree [with someone's position] and want to show <...>, you leave. It's one of options for expressing policy, but it does stop us from talking about the gist of what is important. <...> So it should be doable,” added the minister. Earlier it was reported that officials from a number of countries left the meeting of the heads of finance ministries and central banks of the G20 countries, which took place on Wednesday in Washington, during the speech of Russian Minister Anton Siluanov, who participated in the event via video link.
Bloomberg previously reported, with citing sources, that the United States pressured this year's G20 presidency Indonesia to keep out the president RF to participation in union summit. According to Bloomberg, if Putin retains the right to participate in the G20 summit, the leaders of some countries may refuse to travel to it and send lower-level delegations. The press secretary of the head of the Russian state, Dmitry Peskov, said that the decision on whether the president will participate in the next G20 summit will be made depending on the development of the situation.
