Federation Council Chairman Valentina Matvienko will take part in the G20 summit of heads of parliaments.


Chairman of the Federation Council Valentina Matvienko will pay a visit to Indonesia, where she will take part in the eighth summit of speakers of parliaments of the Group of Twenty (G20) states. This was reported to journalists in the press service of the Federation Council.

"On October 5-7, a delegation of the Russian parliament headed by the Chairman of the Federation Council Valentina Matvienko will visit the Republic of Indonesia," the press service said. "Valentina Matvienko will take part in the eighth summit of speakers of parliaments of the Group of Twenty states in Jakarta, speak at a thematic session on food and energy security and economic challenges, as well as during a discussion on social integration, gender equality and women's empowerment," the press service added.

The program of the visit includes meetings with representatives of the Indonesian leadership and parliamentarians. In particular, with the head of the Council of Regional Representatives La Nyalla Mattalitti, Chairman of the Council of People's Representatives Puan Maharani. Valentina Matvienko will also hold a number of other bilateral meetings on the sidelines of the summit.

The Russian parliamentary delegation includes Deputy Chairman of the Federation Council Konstantin Kosachev, Deputy Speaker of the State Duma Pyotr Tolstoy, Chairman of the Federation Council Committee on Science, Education and Culture, Head of the Federation Council cooperation group with the Council of Regional Representatives of Indonesia Lilia Gumerova, First Deputy Chairman of the Federation Council Committee on International Affairs Vladimir Jabarov.

The eighth summit of parliamentary speakers was organized on the eve of the G20 leaders' summit. Among the priority topics are acceleration of sustainable development, green economy, food and energy security, economic challenges, effective parliament, viable democracy, social integration, gender equality and empowerment of women.
