Moscow celebrated the 73rd anniversary of friendship with Indonesia

On February 2, the Embassy of the Republic of Indonesia in Moscow, together with the Russian Association for International Cooperation and the Society for Friendship with Indonesia, held a solemn event "Indonesia-Russia Friendship Day".
The celebration took place within the framework of the Unique Russia Forum, which is held in the Russian capital from January 24 to February 5.
"Friendship Day" opened with a traditional dance performed by Kiran Nusantara Dance group, which cooperates with the Embassy of Indonesia in Moscow.
After the anthems of the two states were played, Jose Tavares, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Indonesia to the Russian Federation, addressed the guests with a welcoming speech. He noted that the history of relations between the two countries has more than 73 years – the beginning of fruitful cooperation was laid by the expedition of the Russian traveler Nikolai Miklukho-Maklay, during which he visited Indonesia. Jose Tavares drew the audience's attention to the dynamic development of relations between Russia and Indonesia, including in the areas of trade, tourism and investment, recalling that by the end of 2022, the trade turnover between the two countries had grown by more than 30%. He added that last year more than 74 thousand Russian tourists visited the world's largest island state.

Ruslan Bayramov, Chairman of the Friendship Society with Indonesia, spoke about the importance of strengthening ties between the peoples of the two countries. "We are certainly pleased with the dynamic development of Russian-Indonesian relations.
This also imposes a certain positive responsibility: to be worthy of the labors of our ancestors and also to work actively today so that our countries develop and be friends. We will be happy to continue these trends and will make every effort to ensure that the peoples of Russia and Indonesia can learn more about each other. "Unity in diversity" is the main slogan of Indonesia, which is necessary for the whole globe today," Ruslan Bayramov said.
Chairman of the Presidium of the Russian Association for International Cooperation Sergey Kalashnikov reminded the audience about the opening of a huge space for cooperation between the two countries.
"The time of change is a time of great opportunities. Today, Russia has the opportunity to use a new range of conditions that allow us and our Indonesian partners to develop," Sergey Kalashnikov said.

The guests of the event were able to see a demonstration performance specially prepared by the Federation of Traditional Indonesian Martial Arts Pencak Silat; a Russian folk dance ensemble also performed for them, performing cheerful and noisy Russian traditional dances and songs. The event ended with incendiary Indonesian dances performed by Kiran Nusantar Dance.
