The Council of the border regions of Uzbekistan and Kyrgyzstan will meet in May.

A meeting of the Council of the Border Regions of Uzbekistan and Kyrgyzstan will be held in May in Uzbek Andijan. President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev told reporters about this on Friday during a visit to the Kyrgyz capital.

"The Council of Heads of Border Regions is active. We do not have an analogue of such a platform. We will hold the next meeting of the Council in May in Andijan," he said.

Earlier, Mirziyoyev said that Kyrgyzstan and Uzbekistan will complete the process of delimitation of the common section of the border on January 27. The head of Uzbekistan noted that this will contribute to strengthening stability in the entire region as a whole.

The Council of Heads of the Border Regions of Uzbekistan and Kyrgyzstan was established in accordance with the memorandum of understanding between the governments signed in Bishkek during Mirziyoyev's visit in September 2017.
