Turkestan is preparing to host the first inter-parliamentary forum of Central Asian States

Representatives of Central Asian countries plan to adopt the Turkestan Declaration following the results of the first inter-parliamentary forum in the Kazakh city of Turkestan. This was announced on Monday at a briefing by the official representative of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Kazakhstan Aibek Smadiyarov.

"The first inter-parliamentary forum of Central Asian states will be held in Turkestan on February 9-10. It is planned to be attended by speakers and deputies of legislative bodies. The forum will provide an opportunity to launch the process of creating an additional platform for strengthening interstate cooperation through the legislative bodies of the countries of the region. According to the results of the forum, it is planned to adopt the Turkestan Declaration," he said.

At the end of January, the press service of the Senate (upper house) of the Parliament of Kazakhstan reported that an inter-parliamentary forum will be held on February 10, at which it is planned to discuss issues of strengthening comprehensive strategic cooperation between Central Asian countries and the role of parliaments in this process. In addition, the participants of the meeting will consider the role of parliamentarians in expanding cultural and humanitarian cooperation on the basis of a common historical and cultural heritage.
