The Russian president's special envoy for Afghanistan said the dialogue was friendly.

The new Afghan leadership is determined to deepen bilateral relations with Russia. This was stated by the Special Representative of the President of Russia for Afghanistan, Director of the Second Asian Department of the Russian Foreign Ministry Zamir Kabulov on the air of the Rossiya-1 TV channel.

Actually, this is not for the sake of appearances. We felt the mood of the new Afghan leadership to deepen bilateral relations with the Russian Federation,” he said following his visit to Kabul.

On March 24, a Russian delegation led by Zamir Kabulov visited Afghanistan. The parties discussed the whole range of relationships. As a result of these negotiations, representatives of the Taliban movement (banned in the Russian Federation) confirmed their interest in further expanding cooperation with Moscow.

By the decision of the Supreme Court RF dated February 14, 2003, the Taliban movement was recognized as a terrorist organization. Its activity in Russia is prohibited.
