The results of the Consultative meeting of the leaders of the Central Asian countries were summed up in Turkmenistan

The third Consultative meeting of the leaders of Central Asian countries ended in Avaza.


During the meeting, the parties considered key aspects of the development of political, trade, economic, cultural and humanitarian cooperation between the countries of the region. The Presidents agreed to strengthen foreign policy cooperation, including through holding regular five-sided meetings between the Ministries of Foreign Affairs of the countries of the region.

Issues related to the implementation of decisions taken during the Consultative Meeting of the Heads of State of Central Asia, held in Tashkent on November 29, 2019, were discussed of the year. The parties noted the importance of the region from the geopolitical and geo-economic points of view, stressed the high level of mutual understanding, trust and mutual respect between countries that are linked by centuries-old historical, spiritual and cultural ties. It was emphasized that all this has a positive impact on the development of not only the region, but also Eurasia as a whole.

“Based on the UN documents, we are on the path of creating favorable political, legal and economic conditions in Central Asia for a safe, sustainable energy partnership, oriented both towards satisfaction within the regional demand for energy resources and access to world markets through international transit corridors,” President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov noted in his speech.

The Presidents exchanged views on the development of trade relations, increasing the volume of export - import operations. Agreements were reached on increasing the diversification of mutual trade and industrial cooperation.

One of the important components of the agenda of the meeting was the consolidation of the efforts of the countries of the region to combat the pandemic. The Presidents agreed to facilitate the organization and encourage joint research in the field of studying the nature of the origin of infections of a new type, as well as the introduction of new methods of treatment and prevention of infectious diseases.

Following the meeting, a Joint Statement of the Heads of State of Central Asia was adopted.

Then a solemn ceremony of presenting the Badge of Honor of the Heads of State of Central Asia took place. In accordance with the decision taken by the Presidents of the Central Asian countries at the current Consultative Meeting, the Badge of Honor was awarded to the President of the Republic of Tajikistan Emomali Rahmon for outstanding services in the development of friendship, good neighborliness, mutual understanding and cooperation between the states of Central Asia, strengthening peace and security in the region, promotion of common interests and initiatives of the countries of the region in the international community. To applause, the Badge of Honor was presented by the President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov.

Then a press conference was held by the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan Rashid Meredov and the Special Representative of the UN Secretary-General for Central Asia , Head of the UN Regional Center for Preventive Diplomacy for Central Asia Natalia German following the results of the Consultative Meeting of the Heads of States of Central Asia, the State News Agency of Turkmenistan reports.

Various international events were held as part of the presidential summit:   CA Women's Dialogue, CA Economic Forum, International Exhibition of National Products, Festival of CA National Dishes, as well as exchange auctions.
