The leaders of Iran and Tajikistan signed a memorandum of cooperation

The Presidents of Tajikistan and Iran, Emomali Rahmon and Ebrahim Raisi, following the talks in Dushanbe, signed a number of documents, including a memorandum on economic and technical cooperation. This was announced on Saturday by the press service of the Tajik leader.

"The following documents were signed: an agreement between the Republic of Tajikistan and the Islamic Republic of Iran on the extradition of prisoners, a memorandum between the government of the Republic of Tajikistan and the government of the Islamic Republic of Iran on economic and technical cooperation," the report says.

Rahmon and Raisi signed a technical protocol on the electronic exchange of information between the customs services of the two countries, as well as memoranda on cooperation in the fields of tourism, technical and vocational education, social protection, agriculture and sports.

During the talks held on Saturday with the participation of government delegations of the two states, the interlocutors "expressed concern over the political and military situation in neighboring Afghanistan, since this difficult situation threatens security and stability the entire region".

Also, as the press service clarifies, "the Tajik side The start of the process of joining the Islamic Republic of Iran to the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) was called for.

On Friday, the participants of the SCO summit, which was held in Dushanbe, signed a document on cooperation, which implies the beginning of the process of admitting Iran to this international structure. Earlier, Russian President Vladimir Putin at the SCO summit said that Moscow supports the start of this procedure.
