The first telephone conversations took place between Turkey and the new US administration



Erdogan's office held initial talks with a Biden administration official.
Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan's spokesman Ibrahim Kalin and US President Joe Biden's National Security Adviser Jake Sullivan held telephone conversations on Tuesday, the Anatolian Agency reported.
According to him, the parties discussed a wide range of issues, including relations between Ankara and Washington, the situation in Syria, Libya, the Eastern Mediterranean, Afghanistan, Nagorno-Karabakh and in Cyprus.
The talks were the first official contact between Erdogan's office and Biden's administration since he took office.
In addition, the parties expressed "a desire to establish strong, long-term and constructive relations between the two countries in the coming period", and also "agreed on opinion on the need to strengthen NATO and take steps to strengthen regional and global peace and stability.
