The countries of Central Asia and the Persian Gulf discussed further cooperation



On October 12, the heads of the foreign ministries of the states of the Central Asian region and the Persian Gulf held the first consultative meeting in Nur-Sultan, during which they discussed the prospects for interregional cooperation. This was announced on Tuesday by the official representative of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Uzbekistan Yusup Kabulzhanov.
“The Minister of Foreign Affairs of Uzbekistan Abdulaziz Kamilov, who is on a working visit to Nur-Sultan, on October 12 took part in the first consultative meeting in the format “Central Asia - Cooperation Council for the Arab States of the [Persian] Gulf” (GCC) ”, — wrote Kabulzhanov in his telegram channel. According to him, during the talks, an exchange of views took place on the establishment and development of interregional cooperation in the political, diplomatic, trade, economic, transport and logistics spheres.
It is also reported that following the meeting, a memorandum of understanding was signed on the mechanism of consultations between the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Uzbekistan and the General Secretariat of the GCC. This bilateral document is designed to further expand mutually beneficial ties and provides for regular consultations between the parties on issues of mutual interest.
The Cooperation Council for the Arab States of the Gulf unites Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates, Kuwait, Bahrain, Oman and Qatar , which have access to the Persian Gulf.
