Government officials and ordinary Chinese condemned Pelosi's trip to Taiwan
Beijing residents are concerned about the trip of the Speaker of the US House of Representatives Nancy Pelosi to Taiwan. This visit took place despite the resolute opposition of the Chinese side.
Beijing resident:
"I don't think this trip will lead to a confrontation between the two countries, but it could seriously affect relations between the US and China."
A resident of Beijing:
"It seems that the United States is trying to create a hostile atmosphere in relations with China, but our country has already faced similar situations and knows how to solve such issues."
One of the locals said that Pelosi's trip ignores the interests of not only China, but also the United States.
Beijing resident:
"The US government works in isolation, their politicians pursue personal goals. For selfish reasons, they ignore international precedents and norms. Pelosi's visit will put Sino-American relations in an unstable position."
A resident of Beijing:
"Many Chinese opposed Pelosi's trip, including in Taiwan."
The Standing Committee of the National People's Congress issued an official protest after Nancy Pelosi's trip to Taiwan. The official representative of the Chinese parliament said that there is no room for concessions and compromises in matters of sovereignty and territorial integrity of the Celestial Empire. The laws require observing the one-China principle, deterring separatists and countering the interference of external forces in resolving the Taiwan issue. The statement stresses that any attempts to prevent the full reunification of the country with the region are doomed to failure.
The Shanxi Museum has opened an exhibition with unique exhibits from the tombs of the rulers of the Han Empire
The Shanxi Museum has exhibited more than 270 exhibits that date back to the Han Dynasty. The artifacts were discovered in Jiangsu province during the excavation of the tombs of rulers who lived about two thousand years ago. One of the most interesting exhibits is a funeral suit sewn with gold threads from more than two and a half thousand jade plates. He made a huge impression on the visitors of the exhibition, becoming the personification of the high level of skill of the ancient Chinese.
Liang Fan, curator of the Shanxi Museum:
"At the moment, archaeologists have found very few jade costumes, this is a very rare and valuable exhibit. It was used for the burial of people with the highest social status. Such a privilege was available only to the head of state."
The reign of the Han Dynasty is an important period in the history of China. During this era, the country managed to achieve great progress in many areas, including in the social sphere, economy and culture.
Liang Fan, curator of the Shanxi Museum:
"The exhibition is divided into four zones that convey the spirit of the Han Empire and show the luxurious life of high-ranking officials in terms of politics, economics, military affairs and burials. At that time, Chinese national culture was formed under the influence of the prosperous Han Dynasty, which left a rich cultural heritage to future generations."
The exhibition will last until October this year.
Environmental improvements in rural China have led to a rapid increase in tourism
Tourism is actively developing in rural areas of China and at the same time the incomes of local residents are growing. One of the reasons is the recently adopted measures to protect the environment. The authorities are striving to improve the environmental situation. So, in one of the counties of Chongqing, the local administration reclaimed more than 130 hectares of terraced rice fields. They offer magnificent views that attract many tourists and artists. More and more farm-style hotels are appearing in the region. In the first half of the year, they brought local residents more than seven and a half million yuan in profit.
And in Hebei Province, the authorities have made serious efforts to improve the environmental situation and control the water level in Lake Baiyang, the largest freshwater reservoir in northern China. Since 2017, its area has almost doubled — from 170 to almost 300 square kilometers. As a result, the lake became home to many more wild birds, including dozens of rare species.
In the Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region, picturesque poplar forests with an area of more than 800 square kilometers grow. In 2019, local authorities launched a project to protect this ecosystem. They managed to restore the forest in the Tarim River valley and improve the ecology in the region.
The premiere of a grandiose play about the development of the Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region took place in Urumqi
Urumqi, the largest city and capital of the Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region, hosted the premiere of a theatrical performance dedicated to the development of the region over the past decade. The production was prepared by the propaganda Department of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China together with the Ministry of Culture and Tourism of the People's Republic of China and the administration of the region. The organizers used the words of the Uighur folk song "Lift your handkerchief" in the title of the performance. In the language of vocal and dance performances, the production reflected local customs, as well as natural and cultural features. The audience got acquainted with touching stories about selfless border guards and selfless officials who came to the Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region to help its development. The performance will be shown in the region six times, and then it will be seen by residents of Beijing and other major cities in China.
