The next meeting on normalization of relations between Turkey and Armenia will be held on July 1 in Vienna.

A new round of negotiations on normalization of relations between Turkey and Armenia will be held in Vienna on July 1. This was announced on Tuesday by the Turkish Foreign Ministry.

"The fourth meeting of Special representatives of Turkey and Armenia on normalization of relations Serdar Kilych and Ruben Rubinyan will be held in Vienna on July 1, 2022," the Turkish Ministry of Foreign Affairs reported.

The Armenian Foreign Ministry also confirmed on Tuesday that the meeting with the Turkish representative will take place on July 1 in Vienna. "The next meeting of the special representatives of Armenia and Turkey within the framework of the normalization process between Armenia and Turkey will take place on July 1 in Vienna," the Foreign Ministry said in a statement.

On the eve of the Prime Minister of Armenia Nikol Pashinyan said at a press conference that Armenia and Turkey are trying to normalize relations with small steps. At the same time, he recalled that Ankara associates this process with normalization between Yerevan and Baku.

There are no diplomatic relations between Turkey and Armenia, the border between the two countries has been closed since 1993 on Ankara's initiative. The complicated relations between the two countries are caused by a number of circumstances related, in particular, to Ankara's support of the Azerbaijani position in the Karabakh issue and Turkey's acute reaction to the process of international recognition of the Armenian Genocide of 1915 in the Ottoman Empire.

The first meeting of the special representatives on the normalization process between Armenia and Turkey — Deputy Chairman of the Armenian Parliament - took place in Moscow on January 14Ruben Rubinyan and former Turkish Ambassador to the United StatesSerdar Kilych. As the Russian Foreign Ministry reported, the parties during the negotiations showed their readiness to conduct a dialogue in a constructive, non-politicized manner. The next two meetings were held on February 24 and May 3 in Vienna.
