The Russian Foreign Minister had earlier arrived in Baghdad on a working visit.
Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov invited his Iraqi counterpart Fuad Hussein to pay a visit to Russia.
"I want to thank my colleague and friend once again and express the hope that next time we will meet in Russia. I am pleased to invite you for another visit," Sergey Lavrov said on Monday at a joint press conference following the talks.
The Russian minister arrived on Sunday on a working visit to the Iraqi capital. Sergey Lavrov is also expected to meet with Iraqi President Abdel Latif Rashid, Prime Minister Mohammed al-Sudani, Chairman of the Council of Representatives of Iraq Mohammed al-Halbousi. In addition, a meeting with former Prime Minister Nouri al-Maliki is scheduled.
