Sergey Lavrov discussed preparations for the visit of the President of Uzbekistan to Russia in Tashkent

During a working visit to Uzbekistan, Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov discussed preparations for the visit of the President of the Republic Shavkat Mirziyoyev to the Russian Federation in 2019.


This is stated in the message of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation, distributed on Friday.

"The visit to Tashkent showed a high degree of confidential Russian-Uzbek dialogue, made it possible to determine priority tasks in preparing the visit of the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Mirziyoyev to the Russian Federation this year. The active Russia's position on the platform of international cooperation in the field of drug control in the interests of the states of Central Asia and the entire Eurasian space," the Russian Foreign Ministry said in a statement.

The discussion focused on the agreements following the state visit of Russian President Vladimir Putin to Uzbekistan, which took place on October 18-19, 2018, and the preparation of the first meeting of the joint commission at the level of the heads of government of Russia and Uzbekistan.

On May 2-3, the Russian Foreign Minister was on a working visit to Tashkent. On Friday, he took part in the ministerial segment of the XI Review Meeting of the Parties to the Memorandum of Understanding on Cooperation in the Control of Illicit Production, Trafficking, and Abuse of Narcotic Drugs, Psychotropic Substances and Precursors of 4 May 1996.
