Russian Security Council Secretary arrives in Brunei

Nikolai Patrushev discussed with the Sultan of Brunei Hassanal Bolkiah issues of cooperation between the two countries in the field of security, TASS reports.

The meeting was held in the capital of the Sultanate, the city of Bandar Seri Begawan. Before starting consultations with the head of state, Nikolai Patrushev held talks with Chairman of the National Security Council of Brunei Halbi Yussof.
During the meeting with the Brunei monarch, the parties discussed the main areas of joint work between the two countries in the field of defense, law enforcement agencies and special services follows from today's message of the press service of the Security Council of the Russian Federation.
Particular attention was paid to the problem of combating the terrorist threat, including countering the spread of extremist activity. The parties also agreed to exchange information about illegal actions.

As TASS recalls, the Russian delegation arrived in Brunei to develop the agreements reached during the meeting between Vladimir Putin and Hassanal Bolkiah on the sidelines of the ASEAN summit in 2016.
