On March 2, officers, cadets and employees of the Novosibirsk Military Order of Zhukov Institute named after Army General I.K. Yakovlev of the National Guard Troops celebrate the 52nd anniversary of the establishment of the educational institution.

The Novosibirsk Military Institute of the National Guard Troops is the base platform for the training of special forces and intelligence officers. The high level of professionalism of military specialists is confirmed by the harsh pages of the military chronicle of the educational institution. The war in Afghanistan, the Chernobyl nuclear disaster, interethnic conflicts in the post—Soviet space, counter-terrorism operations in the North Caucasus, participation in a special military operation - all this is an integral part of the history of the institute.

Thousands of graduates of the military educational institution were awarded state and departmental awards for their courage and heroism. Seven of them were awarded the high title of Hero of the Russian Federation.

More than 12 thousand law enforcement officers came out of the walls of the university, whose mission was faithful and devoted service to the Fatherland. Among the graduates are highly qualified military specialists who serve in the Rosgvardiya in various regions of our country. 68 graduates of the educational institution have reached the general's shoulder straps.

The military educational institution was founded in 1971. In 1973, it was transformed into a higher military command school with a training period of 4 years, and since August 1992, the training of officers for the internal troops began with a 5-year training period and graduates of higher military special education and a civilian specialty "jurisprudence".

In 1999, the military school was renamed the Military Institute of Internal Troops of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia, and in 2008 it was named after Army General I.K. Yakovlev. Since 2016, the military institute became part of the Rosgvardiya and became known as the Novosibirsk Military Institute named after General of the Army I.K. Yakovlev of the National Guard of the Russian Federation.

Currently, the university trains officers in the specialties "Legal support of national security" and "Translation and Translation Studies".

In 2021, by Decree of the President of the Russian Federation, the higher military educational institution was awarded the Order of Zhukov for high performance in combat training and training of qualified specialists, for the courage and dedication of graduates shown during the performance of combat training tasks.
