Strengthening ties between the Russian Federation and Kazakhstan is an absolute priority for Moscow.

Cooperation between Russia and Kazakhstan is based on the principles of brotherhood and friendship, as well as strategic partnership, strengthening relations between the two states is an absolute priority for Moscow, Russian Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin said on the sidelines of a meeting of the EAEU Intergovernmental Council.

"For us, of course, strengthening relations with Kazakhstan is an absolute priority, our cooperation is based on the principles of fraternal friendship, strategic partnership and alliance," Mishustin said at a meeting with Kazakh Prime Minister Alikhan Smailov. He stressed that mutual trade between the two countries is developing successfully, the indicator has grown by 10% and amounted to $ 25.5 billion.

"But this is only January — November 2022, we just need to check the months, see," the Russian prime minister said. He noted that "it's not bad at all in these difficult conditions."

Speaking about the agenda of bilateral relations, Mishustin noted that it is important for the parties to accelerate the creation of new production chains in industry, mechanical engineering, energy, and transport infrastructure. "And, of course, a good basis for this is created by the mutual, if you will, complementarity of the economic, production and technological potentials of both the Russian Federation and Kazakhstan," he stressed. All these issues, according to the Russian Prime Minister, are under constant control of the bilateral intergovernmental commission on economic cooperation.

Mishustin thanked the Kazakh side for always quick reaction to the solution of all existing issues. The Prime Minister of the Russian Federation drew attention to the fact that Russia this year assumed the chairmanship of the EAEU, and next year Kazakhstan will assume the chairmanship of the board of the Eurasian Economic Commission. "I hope that together we will prepare all the projects that somehow exist in the EAEU, deepen the Eurasian economic integration and use its opportunities primarily for the development of our economies and for improving the welfare of our people," the Prime Minister of the Russian Federation said.

He stressed that it has become a good tradition to hold the first meeting of the intergovernmental council in Kazakhstan in connection with the digital forum. "This once again reflects the importance of the digital agenda in the EAEU, the demand for new high—tech projects of the entire five," Mishustin said. He thanked for the hospitality and warm welcome, conveyed greetings from the President of the Russian Federation Vladimir Putin to President of Kazakhstan Kassym-Jomart Tokayev and Prime Minister of the Republic Alikhan Smailov.
